On June 25, 2023, at 6:00 pm Deputies were dispatched to 9179 Castex Landing, Jennings, Louisiana, in reference to someone calling 911 and hanging up.

The caller stated they were being abused and hung up the phone before dispatchers could get additional information.  Responding deputies spoke with mother and 12-year-old child who reported being slapped several times. 

When deputies initially arrived at the residence, a male voice was heard screaming inside the residence. 

The male, James Lawrence Rigsby, 32, of 9179 Castex Landing road, Jennings was arrested and booked into the parish jail, charged with cruelty to juveniles. 

The juvenile victim was transported by his mother to Jennings Ochsner's American Legion Hospital for evaluation and was cleared by medical staff.
