Traffic stop leads to drug arrests

On Wednesday, June 7, 2023, Deputies stopped a black Chevrolet Tahoe with switched license plates at the intersection of Highway 102 and North Frontage Road, Jennings.

Deputies recognized all occupants inside the vehicle and had previous encounters with them and their involvement with illegal narcotics.  A K-9 was requested and gave a positive alert to the presence of narcotics. 

The driver was identified as Kyle Reed, 28 of 7051 Grand Marais road, Jennings, passengers were Halie Santiago, 24, also of 7051 Grand Marais road, Jennings, and Kayla Crochet, 27, of 3006 Grand Marais road, Jennings, LA.  

A search of the vehicle uncovered alprazolam pills, Diazepam pills, approximately 4 ounces fentanyl, methamphetamine, and a scale with two glass smoking devices.  All three occupants of the vehicle were arrested. 

Reed was charged with possession of CDS II, possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Santiago was charged with (2 cts) possession of CDS II, (2 cts) possession of CDS IV, (2cts) taking contraband into penal facility, possession of CDS II with intent to distribute. 

Crochet was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and released on citation.
