On January 13, 2023, Jeff Davis Sheriff detectives began investigating the theft of a boat motor, from Windmill Lane, Iowa.  

During the investigation, it was discovered that an individual had shown interest in the boat and motor and asked about it.  The victim said it was not for sale and shortly after the motor was stolen. 

The investigation led detectives to a residence located in Sulphur, La , where detectives located the boat motor.

On February 13, 2023, Dustin Wade Arrant , 22, of 3148 E. Burton , Sulphur turned himself into the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff's Office and admitted to stealing the boat motor. Arrant was booked into the Parish Jail for Theft and Simple Burglary.
