On Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at 0418 hours, Deputies were dispatched to the area of Highway 26 and Ardoin Road in reference to a cow in the roadway. When deputies arrived, they discovered the cow had been struck by a vehicle.

First responders with Fire District 2 were on the scene.  During the investigation deputies discovered the driver, Jaekwon Ladarius Fontenot and a passenger Christopher Paul Jack had outstanding warrants. Jaekwon and Christopher were transported to the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail.

Jaekwon Lardarius Fontenot, 19, of 404 E. Wilson Street, Villeplatte, LA was booked in on warrant 51805 for Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm and warrant 39248 for Theft of a Firearm.

Christopher Jack, 37, of 112 Railroad Avenue, Mamou, La was booked on warrant 51804 for Illegal Display of License Plate, carrying of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and warrant 51804-2 for Improper Lane Usage, Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
