Stolen vehicle and gun arrest
On Wednesday, April 6, 2022, Deputies were dispatched to Interstate 10 Westbound near milepost 55, Welsh, Louisiana, in reference to a person walking in traffic.
A truck abandoned on the roadway nearby was confirmed to be stolen by deputies out of Winnsboro, LA.
Welsh Police assisted in locating the male subject walking in the road and transported him back to deputies and the stolen vehicle.
During the investigation deputies uncovered two stolen firearms and a laptop stolen from the Franklin school board.
Matthew Zane Kay, 24, of 116 Martin Lane, Lake Charles was transported to the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail for booking.
Kay was identified as a convicted felon. He was booked on two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, two counts of Illegal carrying of a firearm, two counts of illegal possession of stolen things and two counts possessions of a stolen firearm.
