Catalytic converter thefts

On March 31, 2022, Deputies were dispatched to the area of 8100 Martin Roy Road, Jennings, Louisiana, in reference to two suspicious men wearing hoodies and riding their bikes at approximately 4:30am.

Deputies located two males on St. Gertrude Road. While speaking to the two males, deputies noticed what appeared to be a Catalytic Converter hanging out of one's backpack.  A second catalytic converter was found during a consent search by deputies. 

The two males, Michael Dale Duplechain, 27, of 337 Calcasieu Avenue, Lake Arthur and Nicholas Paul Chaisson, 42, of 106 East Second street, Roanoke, LA admitted to theft of the catalytic converters from two vehicles.  Duplechain and Chiasson had two reciprocating saws in their backpacks.

Duplechain was booked into the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail for Two counts of Theft from a Motor Vehicle (LA RS 14:67), Illegal Carrying Weapons (Burglary Tools) (LA RS 14:95.A1.b3), Two counts of Criminal Damage to Property (LA RS 14:56), Criminal Trespassing (LA RS 14:63), and other Agency Warrant (J-00705-20) for Jennings Police Department. 

Chaisson was booked for two counts of Theft from a Motor Vehicle (LA RS 14:67), Illegal Carrying Weapons (Burglary Tools) (LA RS 14:95.A1.b3), Two counts of Criminal Damage to Property (LA RS 14:56), Criminal Trespassing (LA RS 14:63), 2 outstanding Warrants (CR-695-18 and CR-174-19).
