Drug arrest

On Sunday, May 2, 2021, Deputies were dispatched to 7216 Sandy Hill Road, Roanoke, for a disturbance involving a firearm.

As deputies were arriving in the area the complainant reported the vehicles were leaving and traveling east down Sandy Hill Road. Deputies observed multiple vehicles coming down Sandy Hill Road and stopped the vehicles to investigate.

Deputies approached a Maroon Dodge van driven by Kevin Johnson, 48, of 815 East Russell, Welsh.  Deputies smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the driver's side window while speaking with Johnson. 

Johnson was removed from the vehicle and observed throwing a small white cylinder down as he was removing items from his pants pocket. Deputies retrieved the cylinder and discovered it contained methamphetamine. 

Johnson was arrested for possession of CDS II methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstruction of justice.
