National Drug Takeback

10/26/2023

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day takes place Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023.

The Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration will coordinate a one-day combined effort to remove potentially dangerous controlled substances from our communities.

This national take back initiative will provide a unified opportunity for the public to surrender pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction.

The Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff's office is participating in the DEA prescription drug take back initiative and will be available to take old prescription medications at the main office located at 1530 LA Hwy 90 West, Jennings, LA.

According to a National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.9 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs.

The study shows most abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.

The Drug Enforcement Administration's Take Back Day provides an opportunity for Americans to prevent drug addiction or overdose deaths.  PLEASE do not bring liquids or needles to be disposed of, only tablets or capsule medicines.

Collection activities are scheduled from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, Saturday October 28, 2023 at the Sheriff's Office, located at 1530 Hwy 90 West, Jennings, LA 70546.
