On Saturday, August 26, 2023, Deputies stopped a vehicle for traffic violation on Highway 26 near Fontenot Road. The driver was found to be under the influence of narcotics and was arrested for DWI. 

During the stop deputies discovered a large quantity of controlled prescription medication.  The drugs located were identified as: Hydrocodone pills, Methadone Lorotab Clonazepam pills, Didrex pills Benzphetamine pills Legend Drug Hydroxyzine pills, and Legend Drug Trazodone pills. 607 pills total.

The driver, Barry James Bordelon, II , 41, of 600 N. 11th Street, Eunice, LA was booked into the Parish Jail for 9 counts of Possession of Schedule 2 with intent to Distribute, 2 counts Possession of Schedule 3 with intent to Distribute, 2 counts Possession of a Legend Drug, 1 count Possession of Schedule 4, 2 counts possession of schedule 2, Driving under the Influence, Obstruction of Justice, Driving on Roadway laned for Traffic, Window tint violation, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
