Lake Arthur Shooting 8/11/2026

On August 12, 2026, at approximately 2:30 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a shooting on Hundley Road in Lake Arthur, Louisiana. Upon arrival, deputies with the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff Office located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Deputies rendered life-saving measures until emergency medical personnel arrived and continued treatment at the scene. The victim was subsequently airlifted to a trauma hospital.

Holden Hoffpauir was detained at the scene by deputies. A preliminary investigation indicates that Hoffpauir and the victim were involved in a physical altercation earlier in Jennings Louisiana. The confrontation reportedly continued on Hundley Road, where Hoffpauir allegedly armed himself. Following a subsequent physical altercation, Hoffpauir allegedly shot the victim, resulting in life-threatening injuries.
This remains an active investigation. Hoffpauir was arrested and booked into the Jefferson Davis Correctional Center.
