The First Year Recap
The administration, under Sheriff Kyle C. Miers, has reached its one-year anniversary. Sheriff Miers would like to share some accomplishments made in the past year:
· The Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff's Office is now operating at a fully staffed capacity.
· The Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff's Office has implemented significant pay increases while also adding more benefits for employees.
· The JDPSO has been more involved with events throughout the communities of Jefferson Davis Parish.
· The JDPSO has now implemented a physical assessment program for all employees.
· The JDPSO has received over $300,000 in grants/appropriations.
· The implementation of up-to-date technology to streamline procedures.
· The JDPSO Enforcement Division has responded to 28,444 calls of service. That is 1,000 more calls of service were responded to compared to the year prior.
· The JDPSO Enforcement Division has also made 348 arrests. This is 100 more arrests compared to the year prior.
· The JDPSO Enforcement Division is now working traffic accidents.
· The JDPSO now has four K-9 Deputies, now having one per shift.
· The enhancement of community policing and public relations.
· The JDPSO is now answering calls inside of city limits.
· All JDPSO Investigators are now making efforts to contact the victims of all crimes.
· The JDPSO Investigations Division have investigated 2033 cases since July 2024, with solving the majority of those cases.
· The JDPSO Investigations Division have also sent more items to the Regional Crime Lab compared to previous years.
· The JDPSO Investigations Division have also spent over 1,000 hours and have typed approximately 700 pages of reports in regards to the 8 unsolved cases of the 8 young women of Jeff Davis Parish.
· The Jefferson Davis Parish Jail is now operating at 93% capacity. All doors and equipment are functioning in the facility. The facility also passed the annual DOC inspection.
