From the Desk of Sheriff Ivy Woods
I would like to thank each and every one of you who voted “YES” for the tax to maintain and operate a new jail for our parish. With your support, it passed overwhelmingly and our communities will greatly benefit from this new facility. I can tell you the most effective ways to minimize crime are to have deputies and police officers on the street patrolling, a jail that has at least one empty bed available for violators, and a fully funded justice system ready to protect its citizens and hold the violators accountable.
I would also like to thank the volunteers who gave selflessly of their time to help get the accurate information out to the public. Passage of the tax would not have been possible without those volunteers.
Finally, I want to say “THANK YOU” to the citizens of Jefferson Davis Parish for your support. I am humbled and proud to be your sheriff and I look forward to continuing to serve this parish with excellence and professionalism.
