Sunday, March 5, 2023, Deputies were dispatched to 2064 Jeff Davis Academy Road Lot 14 in Jennings, Louisiana, in reference to a male subject in blue jeans and a light-colored shirt armed with a knife threatening to kill dogs in the area.

Dispatch advised the reporting party advised the subject had gotten into a vehicle with a burnt headlight and believes they live in the apartments up the road. 

Deputies spoke with Jagger Dane Smith, 29, of 2074 Jeff Davis Academy road, Jennings, LA . Smith admitted to chasing dogs in the neighborhood while carrying a fixed blade knife. 

Witnesses reported Smith picked up a dog and threw it down on the ground and they heard the dog yelping. Smith had a verbal altercation with witnesses reported to see Smith with a knife grab a black and white dog from inside the residence of lot 12 by the neck and slam it onto the ground. 

Deputies arrested Smith and he was booked on Criminal Trespass, Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling, two counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals, and Resisting an Officer with Force or Violence.
