On January 24, 2023, Deputies made an arrest on Interstate 10 west milepost 47 around 10:30 pm.

A vehicle stopped for traffic violation developed into a felony arrest.  The driver, Melvin Alexander Dillard Jr., 32, of 10245 Sunny Cline drive, Baton Rouge was driving with no license. 

A k-9 alert to the vehicle lead deputies to discover Fentanyl and marijuana inside the vehicle. Deputies also located a Glock semi auto 10 mm pistol with a 30-round magazine.

The rental vehicle Melvin Dillard was driving was towed and Dillard, a felon, was charged with possession of firearm by convicted felon, possession of firearm with CDS, possession of marijuana, and possession of CDS ( Fentanyl) and booked into the parish jail.
