Traffic stop leads to drug arrest

On Saturday, January 14, 2023, Deputies stopped a vehicle for speeding on LA 1126 near Britt road.  When the vehicle stopped deputies observed the passenger door open and they ordered passenger to close the door and stay inside the vehicle. 

Deputies observed a black Reebok bag stuffed underneath the vehicle near the front passenger door.

The driver, Gerard Christopher Conner advised he had no knowledge of the bag and advised he did not throw anything from the vehicle.

Deputies checked the Reebok bag and found an empty cigarette pack with a clear baggie containing a white powdered substance which tested positive as cocaine, a black plastic box which contained a blue pill container containing Alprazolam, a clear plastic container containing a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine, and one black digital scale. Deputies also observed a small baggie under the vehicle containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana.

A k-9 alert to the vehicle lead to a search.  Deputies found a revolver in the trunk of the vehicle that was reported stolen.

 Gerard Christopher Conner, 38, of 811 W. Jefferson street, Jennings, was transported to the parish jail and booked for possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of Marijuana with intent to Distribute, 2 counts Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance,  Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in the presence of a Minor.

Two juvenile passengers were released to an adult guardian/parents , along with vehicle.
