On July 9, 2022, Deputies stopped a silver vehicle northbound on US 165 for speeding.  The driver produced an identification card when deputies approached him.  A record check for a valid driver's license alerted deputies that the driver was under suspension. 

During the stop deputies smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle interior and obtained a consent to search from the driver. 

The search revealed a Glock Model 17 9mm pistol, four magazines,  large sum of US currency, and marijuana. 

The driver, Damien Lynn Waller, 28, of 704 Slocum drive, Alexandria, LA was arrested and booked for speeding, driving under suspension, possession of marijuana and possession of firearm by a convicted felon.
