Sheriff Woods would like to remind everyone that property taxes are due by January 20th which makes this week the last week to pay without interest.

The Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff's Office sent out tax notices in late November.  All property owners should have received their notices by now.  If you have not received your tax bill or you received a notice for property you no longer own, notify the Sheriff’s Office by calling 337-821-2100

All property taxes are considered delinquent if not paid by January 20th.

These taxes help fund all aspects of public service such as roads, drainage, levees, law enforcement, fire departments, hospitals, ambulance services, schools and recreation.

Delinquent taxes accrue at a 1 percent per month penalty until paid.  Taxes unpaid will have additional costs associated with collection including, but not limited to, certified mailing costs, Mennonite letter costs, and advertisement in a news paper. If the property taxes are still not paid and the property is sold at a tax sale, the homeowner is subject to losing the homestead exemption and a tax interest in their property.

Jefferson Davis Parish taxes can be paid at or mailed to the Sheriff's Tax Office located at the Courthouse in Jennings.  You can mail your payments to P.O. Box 863 Jennings, LA 70546 or come into the courthouse at 321 E. Plaquemine Street to pay in person.
