Domestic abuse battery arrest

On July 6, 2021, around midnight, Deputies were notified of a disturbance on Highway 102 Welsh, Louisiana. Deputies received information the subject was driving a gray Chevrolet Impala.  A second call received reported the vehicle and suspect in the parking lot at Peto's truck stop. 

The complainant reported that an argument was involved and the suspect had been drinking.  While driving the suspect slapped a child in the vehicle for talking back to him about putting on his seatbelt.  Deputies located a bloody shirt in the vehicle and the child stated that he had to change his shirt due to the bloody nose he received. 

Clayton Kelvin Bennett, 63, 423 South Simmons street, Welsh was booked into the parish jail for domestic abuse battery with child endangerment and possession of CDS II.  During booking, deputies discovered a small baggy of suspected methamphetamine in Bennett's wallet.
