Pursuit nets drug arrest

On Wednesday June 23, 2021 Jeff Davis patrol deputies attempted to stop a truck for traffic violation on West Willis street, Jennings. 

The driver initially began to slow and pull over then accelerated and fled on South Cutting at speeds over 80 miles per hour. The pursuit ended on Penny street and West GC Cheney,  after the driver threw several bags of contraband out the window of the vehicle as he was fleeing. 

Deputies recovered suspected methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana.

The driver, Gary Lemelle Beroid, 41, of 1015 Penny street, Jennings was arrested and booked into the parish jail on aggravated flight from an officer, possession of CDS I Marijuana, Possession of CDS II, 3 counts possession of CDS II with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, two contempt of court outstanding warrants and possession of CDS I Heroin or Fentanyl.

Beroid has ten prior arrests.
