Traffic stop leads to recovered stolen vehicle and kidnapping victim rescued

On Sunday March 29, 2020 deputies received a call from Acadia Sheriff's office to be on the lookout for a company van on I-10 believed to be involved in a kidnapping. 

At 4:30 pm deputies observed a van fitting the description westbound on I-10 taking the Roanoke exit.  The van was stopped at Peto's truck stop and the driver arrested.  The van was reported stolen out of Ft. Worth Texas. 

Deputies discovered the driver was an employee of the company reporting the van stolen.  Terrence Dshaun McKinstry, 47, of 5415 Wallace, Indianapolis, IA was charged with possession of stolen things and Second degree kidnapping. 

There was also a female passenger in the van that had alerted a store clerk in the Crowley area that she needed help. Deputies were told by the female that she had been held against her will for the past five months by McKinstry, had been beaten, threatened and held by McKinstry in Kenner, LA. 

McKinstry is held in the parish jail with no bond.
