Complaint call leads to two arrests

On Friday January 3, 2020, around 1:00 am Deputies were dispatched to 1823 Elton Road (Bourbon Street Cafe) in reference to a kidnapping case.

Upon arrival deputies spoke to Jennings Police who was on the scene with the complainant Alia Bryant.  Bryant advised her boyfriend Alex Granger had kidnapped her 7-month-old daughter.

Deputies arrived at the Budget Inn room 119 and located the subject Granger with daughter. While speaking to Alex deputies observed he appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic. Deputies also discovered there was no kidnapping.

Deputies obtained consent to search the motel room and located a clear baggie containing a green and brown leafy substance believed to be synthetic marijuana,  3 meth pipes, and a small clear baggie containing crystal like substance believed to be methamphetamine in the child's diaper bag.

Alex Granger, 25, of 21043 Freeland road, Welsh was arrested for possession of controlled dangerous substance scheduled II, possession of synthetic cannabinoids, possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegal use of controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor. Granger was transported to the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail for booking.

The infant child was released to a relative.

At approximately 0230 hours, Deputies were dispatched to 15351 Highway 26, Jennings, Louisiana. The caller advised someone was ringing his door bell nonstop and screaming for help.

Upon arrival deputies located Alia Bryant laying against the back door of the residence. Alia stated someone was chasing her and shot a round at her and pointed towards the backyard. Deputies found no one was around.

Deputies placed Alia Marie Bryant under arrest for LA RS 14:103.A3 Disturbing the Peace by Public Intoxication. Alia was transported to the parish jail. While completing arrest paper work, Alia confessed to being under the influence of methamphetamine.
