On August 18, 2019 deputies attempted to stop a truck on Louisiana Avenue in Lake Arthur for a traffic violation.  A pursuit began when the driver refused to stop. 

The driver fled on foot near fifth street.  The vehicle was identified as a stolen vehicle, a  2005 Ford F-150 truck, owned by the Jefferson Davis Police Jury. 

Deputies were aided by several neighbors in the area who gave information that led to the apprehension of the driver. 

John Dustin Heinen, 19, of 6414 Price road, Gueydan was arrested and booked in the parish for speeding, turning movements, stop sign violation, flight from an officer, criminal damage to property, theft of a motor vehicle, criminal trespass, and resisting an officer.
