Another call deputies responded to on Saturday, May 12, 2018, deputies were dispatched to the area of South Frontage Road and Highway 395 near Roanoke, Louisiana.  911 dispatchers received a complainant that a black male jumped from a vehicle on the South frontage road and was walking on South Frontage Road towards Highway 395.

The caller said the male subject was talking out of his head and threatened to commit suicide.  Deputies located the a black male in blue jeans and no shirt , Jennings Police and deputies approached the male and he fled across Interstate 10 north towards Peto's truck stop.

 The subject was captured and detained. Deputies tried to talk to the subject, who was identified as Calvin Spriggings,49, of 414 Pearl street, Jennings,  to figure out if he was suicidal.

Spriggings was in a hysterical state and uncooperative. Spriggings was transported to the Jennings American Legion hospital for evaluation.

Once discharged from the hospital, Spriggings was transported to the parish jail on the charges of resisting an officer, possession of CDS II, possession of marijuana 4th or subsequent offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia. A review of Spriggings criminal history showed he has four previous arrests for possession of marijuana.
