Armed felon with body armor arrested
Early Friday morning, the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on a residence on Frances street in Welsh, LA, involved in illegal drug activity. During the entry into the residence an occupant fled and was captured quickly by deputies. The individual is a known felon to deputies, with eleven arrests in Louisiana and one arrest in Texas, all including illegal drugs, violence, and sex offenses. Jermaine Washington Sr., 45 of West Millard street, Welsh was found to be in possession of a firearm on his person when captured. Washington Sr. was also wearing body armor under his clothing. Deputies recovered a small quantity of methamphetamine from the residence. Additional arrests are expected.
Devin Chad Meyer, 41, of Frances street, Welsh was also arrested during this search warrant. Meyer was arrested for Possession of CDS II Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug paraphernalia. Deputies discovered drugs and paraphernalia inside the residence during the search. Sheriff’s office narcotics investigators initiated the investigation after receiving information of drug activity in the area. Welsh Police department assisted in the investigation and execution of the search warrants this morning. Meyer was also charged with three outstanding warrants for contempt of court.
