Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

12/15/2014

From the Sheriff's desk

Recently, Governor Bobby Jindal proclaimed the following dates as holidays for government offices; Wednesday December 24, 2014 (Christmas eve), Thursday December 25, 2014 (Christmas day), Friday December 26,2014, Wednesday December 31, 2014 (New Years eve), Thursday January 1, 2015 (New Years Day), and Friday January 2nd, 2015. The Jefferson Davis Parish Courthouse, the Civil and Tax office will be closed on the proclaimed holiday dates. The Jefferson Davis Parish Tax office will be open for business on Monday, December 29 and Tuesday December 30th, if you need to conduct business. Remember property taxes are due by the end of the month.

The holiday season is upon us. This is the time of year to reflect on our memories past and welcome with wonder of what is to come. From a personal standpoint, it’s a time to reflect on our priorities in life; faith, family, friendship, health and happiness.

This holiday season is a time for family gatherings and celebrations. Whether it is families traveling to a relative’s home to celebrate or friends venturing out for their holiday shopping, these trips require driving in heavier than normal traffic.

All area law enforcement agencies will be working around the clock to ensure the safety of our families enjoying Christmas parties and New Years celebrations. We ask that each and every person take responsibility for their actions, drink responsibly, and don't drive after drinking. I wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
