Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office Launches New Website

 

On July 30, 2013 the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office launched a new website, http://www.jdpso.org , where parish residents can find the latest information regarding the operations of the Sheriff’s Office.

 

One of the primary goals of the new website is to provide information to the public about registered sex offenders living within Jefferson Davis Parish. The interactive map on the website allows the public to view the geographic locations of registered sex offenders as well as view offender photos and profile information regarding the specific offenses committed.

 

“The safety of parish residents is our primary concern at the Sheriff’s Office. We feel the sex offender website map feature allows us to better protect parish residents by keeping them informed,” stated Sheriff Woods.

 

In addition to the interactive sex offender map, the new website also features press releases, messages from Sheriff Woods, pages on the services of each division of the Sheriff’s Office, as well as a link to submit crime tips via email or phone.

Other features of the website include:

 

Most Wanted – Allows the public to view photos and descriptions of wanted individuals.

 

Jail Roster (Coming in the near future) – Allows the public to view photos and information for individuals booked into the detention center and/or released within the last 48 hours.

 

Warrants (Coming in the near future) – Provides current information and photos of individuals with outstanding warrants.  We welcome the community’s help in locating these individuals.

 

Deadbeat Dads and Moms (Coming in the near future) – Under the Warrants section of our site, this feature focuses on men and women who are not paying child support, and therefore not fulfilling their court determined obligations. 

 

E-newsletter – Allows the public to sign up for and receive an e-newsletter from the Sheriff’s Office featuring articles and photos.

 

History of the Sheriff’s Office – Allows us to share with the community the photographs and biographies (coming in the near future) of our former sheriffs.  We invite and encourage anyone with additional historical information to please contact the Sheriff’s Office. 

 

Alert Notifications – Allows the public to sign up for and receive alert notifications from the Sheriff’s Office via either email or text.  Alerts include sex offender notifications, press releases, messages from the Sheriff, most wanted updates, e-newsletters, and jail roster updates.

 

Social Media Links – Allows the public to follow the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office on social media such as Facebook.

 

Sex Offenders – Allows the public to view photos and information for registered sex offenders living within the parish.  The interactive map feature on the website allows the public to view the geographic locations of registered sex offenders as well as view offender photos and profile information regarding the specific offenses committed.

 

“Posting information on the website improves the efficiency of the Sheriff’s Office by reducing the number of inquiry calls handled by our office.  This tool allows us to devote more resources to the safety and security of our residents.  The new website provides greater transparency for the Sheriff’s Office and encourages the public to take a more active role in the community.  Our intent is for every parish resident to visit the site and become familiar with how to locate sex offenders, how to submit a crime tip, and where to find the latest news and updates from the Sheriff’s Office.  We believe the website is a huge benefit to the Sheriff’s Office and the residents of Jefferson Davis Parish as well,” said Sheriff Woods.
