TS Barry UPDATE

07/12/2019

Tropical Storm Barry is forecasted to become a category one hurricane before landfall Saturday morning in South Central Louisiana. The error cone for Tropical Storm Barry still covers Jefferson Davis Parish and we are currently under a Tropical Storm Warning and a Flash Flood Watch.

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is forecasting wind gusts from 50 to 65 mph for Jefferson Davis Parish beginning Saturday morningfor 6-9 hours into Saturday evening.  They are also forecasting 4-8 inches of rain between today and Sunday with most of that rain coming between Saturday morning and Sunday night.

Prior to the wind entering our area, please secure your property and remove any dead limbs or trees to prevent them from falling on any structures or power lines.  Please secure all loose objects outside to prevent flying debris from causing any additional damage.  Secure items such as garbage cans, lawn furniture and BBQ Pits.  Please be sure to take care of any pets or livestock that may be affected by high winds.

Public Utilities have persons on standby to enact any repairs necessary as soon as the weather permits.  Be prepared for loss of power during high winds and make sure to run any generators outside and away from windows.  Remember that utility repairs cannot be performed during high winds.  If there is a power outage during high winds it will be out until the winds die down.
