On the morning of September 2, 2013, Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to the Budget Inn hotel located on Hwy 26 north of Jennings in reference to an abandoned 5 year old.  The hotel clerk contacted the Sheriff's Office when the child walked into the hotel lobby alone.  Deputies discovered the child was left by his parents in the early morning hours while the mother drove the father to work.  During the course of the investigation, a small amount of marijuana was also found in the room where the child had been.  Layla Watson, 25 of Jennings, and Mason Sonnier Sr., 25 of Jennings, were booked into the parish jail for Cruelty to a Juvenile and Illegal use of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in the presence of minors.  No bond is listed as of this time.
