Elton man arrested on possession of stolen things

12/27/2018

Jeff Davis Sheriff’s office stopped a 2005 Gray Dodge truck in the Iowa area near Newcomer and Dewolf roads yesterday afternoon. The vehicle had been observed driving in the area slowly for the past several days by residents.

As deputies approached the vehicle to investigate they observed a white male running from the wooded property to the truck.  Deputies discovered the truck contained scrap metal in the bed to include a parish road sign.

The vehicle was occupied by two juveniles, their mother, and a nephew.  The driver,  Jerry Shane Hebert, 44, of 1251 Bel Oil road, Elton, LA was taken into custody and booked for illegal possession of stolen things and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of minors. Hebert was booked into the parish jail Wednesday afternoon with no bond.

The Sheriff’s office thanks the neighbors in the Lacassine area for being observant and reporting suspicious activity. The information aids deputies in identifying and apprehending suspects involved in illegal activities and deters further crimes.
