Hathaway Roanoke burglar captured

On October 2, 2018, deputies received 3 separate reports of burglary in the Hathaway/North Roanoke area. The victims reported having their doors kicked in and items including guns and televisions taken from their residences during daytime hours.

Deputies were able to follow up on a suspicious vehicle call from earlier in the day and obtained statements from witnesses. The witnesses described seeing a tan or silver jeep-type vehicle in the area around the time of the break-ins, which was driven by a black male.

Deputies were able to identify the suspect as Danny James Sylvester, 34, of 725 Valsin Street, Breaux Bridge, LA.

Later in the evening on this same date, detectives were notified that Acadia Parish Sheriff's deputies and officers with Estherwood Police Department had been involved in a pursuit with a tan Jeep Patriot, and had taken Danny Sylvester into custody.The items that had been taken from the JD parish residents were located in the back of Sylvester's vehicle. 

Thanks to the public's assistance, warrants were issued for Sylvester with the following charges: - Simple Burglary, 3 counts - Simple criminal damage to property over $1000  - Theft between $1000 and $5000 (2 counts)  - Simple Criminal damage to property under $1000- Theft under $1000, Sylvester is currently being held in the Acadia Parish Jail.
