Two arrested on drug charges

Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s patrol were busy last night.  Two arrests were made involving drugs.  Deputies responded to a 911 call that a man was down unresponsive in the Budget Inn Room 209. 

When deputies arrived they discovered Norbert Broussard, 63, of 321 Caskey Road, Mittie, LA laying on the floor in the bathroom unconscious.  EMS first responders arrived and resuscitated Broussard.  Once Broussard was responding and being transported to the ambulance, Broussard reached into his pocket and removed a package containing marijuana and handed it to EMS first responder. 

Broussard was transported to the Jennings American Legion Hospital, assessed and released. Deputies arrested Broussard and charged him with Possession of CDS I marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, cruelty to juveniles and illegal use of CDS in presence of minors.

 Joshua Guidry,33, of 1310 Myers road, Jennings was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, cruelty to juveniles, and illegal use of CDS in presence of minor. Guidry was also staying in Room 209 with his wife, and 4 year old son. 

The 4 year old was in the motel room during the incident and observed Broussard unresponsive on the floor. 

A consent to search was granted by Guidry, and deputies recovered a straw containing methamphetamine and two syringes in addition to the marijuana Broussard possessed. Guidry’s wife, Brandi Nicole Guidry left the motel, taking the 4 year old with her.

 Broussard and Guidry are held in the parish jail with no bond pending their court appearance.
