Hostage / barricaded subject arrest

At 5:50 AM this Sunday morning, Jefferson Davis Sheriff’s deputies responded to a hostage/ barricaded subject with a firearm at 5094 South Cutting,  Jennings. 

Jennings Police and Fire department assisted.  The hostage was released by the subject around 6:10 AM, but he remained inside threatening several times to come out shooting or kill himself.  Authorities cleared the surrounding residences and continued attempts to negotiate the subjects safe surrender. 

Pepper spray was deployed into the residence and the subject voluntarily surrendered to deputies around 9:00 am this morning.  Frederick Kelvin Mixon, 35, of 5094 South Cutting, Jennings was arrested for Violation of restraining order, Criminal Property Damage, Possession of firearm by convicted felon, Aggravated assault with a firearm, and remaining on premises after being forbidden.

Mixon continues to have trouble with law enforcement, he was arrested on April 12, 2018 for Unauthorized entry of inhabited dwelling, Aggravated Burglary, Possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of firearm by felon, and Obstruction of justice.  He was also arrested 11/25/2017 for Simple Battery of the infirm, Battery on a police officer, Resisting arrest, Aggravated assault with a firearm, Possession of a firearm by felon and violation of a protective order.  Mixon is being held in the parish jail with no bond at this time.
