On December 28, 2023, Deputies met with Parish School Board, in reference to a possible theft of school board funds.

The school board auditor provided paperwork to deputies that a fraudulent invoice was presented to the school board and paid involving  the afterschool  day care owner. 

Detectives opened an investigation into the matter and after several weeks of attempts to interview the suspect and have her provide complete documentation from bank statements; detectives obtained an arrest warrant. 

On February 15, 2024 detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Tassany Nicole Matthews, 39, of 307 N. Main Jennings for felony theft.  Matthews attorney was notified and Matthews turned herself into detectives on February 20,2024 and was booked into the parish jail.
